Kerry E. O'HareDeputy AdministratorFederal Highway Administration Kerry E. O'Hare joined the U.S. Department of Transportation in November 2005 and served two years as Deputy Assistant Secretary for Governmental Affairs and one year as Assistant to the Secretary for Policy. As Deputy Assistant Secretary, Kerry worked closely with governors, mayors, state legislators and county officials. She was also a member of the Secretary's special Congestion Action Team which oversaw the implementation of the Secretary's National Strategy to Reduce Congestion on America's Transportation Network. This Initiative included the development and execution of the Urban Partnership Program which made available over $800 million in Federal funds to five cities which sought to use innovative and demonstrated strategies such as congestion pricing to reduce traffic gridlock. Prior to joining USDOT, Kerry worked for New York Governor George E. Pataki as Deputy Director of the Governor's Washington, DC office. In that capacity she worked closely with the key transportation agencies and authorities in the State and coordinated their Federal policy positions. She also developed and led the State's surface transportation reauthorization efforts and built coalitions with other states and stakeholder groups. Born and raised on Long Island, Kerry also worked on Capitol Hill for U.S. Senator Alfonse M. D'Amato and Congressman Peter T. King who is currently the Ranking Member of the House Homeland Security Committee. |
