Boulder Buster: Breaking Rocks Without Explosives Describes using the Boulder Buster rather than explosives to break rocks larger than 2 meters in diameter or rock walls in 2-meter lifts. The Boulder Buster uses a cartridge resembling a shotgun shell and a column of liquid to generate a high-pressure wave.

Improved MTDC Trail Rake for ATVs This report describes an improved trail rake that can be pulled by an all-terrain vehicle to maintain trails. Features include a tine assembly that can be shifted 11 inches to either side and raised from 3 inches below grade to 11 inches above grade, and joystick controls mounted on the handlebar. When the rake's tine assembly is shifted to the side and rotated, the rake can pull soil from berms alongside the trail without requiring the operator to drive off the trail. Parts for the rake cost $2,900 and the rake takes about 15 days to fabricate. This site requires a user name and password (t-d; t-d).
