TITLE: National Memorandum of Understanding between the U. S. Department of Transportation and the U. S. Environmental Protection Agency
SUBJECT: Implementation of the transportation conformity rule provisions.

PURPOSE OF THE AGREEMENT: To ensure the proper implementation of the transportation conformity rule's provisions through better and more efficient EPA and DOT consultation in order to facilitate timely conformity decisions. It also ensures that integrated transportation and air quality planning and project development processes will be achieved in a timely way, through the transportation conformity and State Implementation Plan (SIP) development processes.
