These graphs show the components of movement due to seismic inertial forces of the superstructure at Abutment 1, Pier 2, and Pier 3 due to movement across the slider, movement across the elastomeric bearing, and movement due to bending of the pier columns.
There are four different bearing configurations considered. Bearing types I and II are shown on slide 16. What is called "Pier 3 Retrofit" is a slider which is not shown. The line "Lap Splice Damage Threshold" indicates the level at which column behavior becomes inelastic and provisions to improve the ductility of the column must be considered.
