Railway-Highway Crossing Hazard Elimination in High-Speed Rail Corridors (HSR) Program

Description: The Railway-Highway Crossing Hazard Elimination in High-Speed Rail Corridors (HSR) Program provides funding for safety improvements at both public and private highway-rail grade crossings along federally designated high-speed rail corridors. This program is jointly administered by the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA).

Entities Eligible to Apply for Funding: States with railway-highway crossings along the 11 federally designated high-speed rail corridors are eligible to apply for funding.

AR Clark County/Pulaski County crossings This project will install flashing lights and gates at a crossing in Clark County and upgrade the circuitry in lights and gates at a crossing in Pulaski County. $380,000
CA California HSR This project will prepare a Grade Crossing Improvement Plan for the San Jose to San Francisco segment of the California High-Speed Rail corridor. $385,600
CA California HSR This project will install supplemental Wayside Interface Unit equipment at 40 grade crossings on the San Francisco to San Jose segment of the California High-Speed Rail corridor. $2,826,640
IL Williamsville Grade Separation Project This project will construct a grade separated roadway and provide for the closure of a private crossing, closure of a pedestrian crossing, and diversion of traffic from a public crossing in Williamsville. $2,200,000
MN Winona, Wabasha, and Goodhue County Crossings This project will install flashing lights and gates at five crossings in Winona, Wabasha, and Goodhue counties. $1,500,000
MO Crossing upgrade This project will upgrade outdated flashing light signals and detection circuitry at a crossing in Smithton. $120,000
MO Crossing upgrade This project will upgrade outdated flashing light signals and detection circuitry at a crossing in La Monte. $120,000

OR Crossing signal replacements This project will replace 70 outdated crossing signal gate arm mechanisms at 40 crossings located between Portland and Eugene. $ 547,400
TX Crossing gate installation This project will install four-quadrant gates which will establish a sealed corridor through the city of Round Rock. $847,730
WA Signal crossing upgrades This project will upgrade signaling and install advanced preemption at a crossing adjacent to the intersection of 37th Street NW and B Street NW in Auburn. $307,550
