| The reconstruction of this 40 year old facility featured a public - private partnership between the Florida Department of Transportation and the owners of a local shopping mall that was formed to address and resolve a vital transportation need on one of South Florida's primary transportation corridors. The design involved two major interchanges, 12 bridge structures, and 25 miles of major highway improvement, made all the more difficult by the need to accommodate 200,000 vehicles per day. | |
