This project actively reuses an abandoned section of the historic Columbia River Highway as a recreational trail. Many portions of the historic highway had been abandoned following the construction of Interstate 84 along the Columbia River. The restoration project continues the philosophy of the original highway, designed to "lay lightly on the land."
