Alabama's Experience with Underwater Installation and Performance of Bridge Scour Instrumentation

The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) has installed Scour Monitoring Instruments at various sites in the state. The instruments used by ALDOT include Active Sonar and Float-Out Sensors. The instruments provide unattended measurement of scour at the site with the ability to alert the proper authorities if the bridge is in danger. ALDOT'S experience with the installation and performance of these devices will be presented.
