Abutment Scour Analysis
Current
techniques of predicting bridge abutment scour are empirical, not theoretical.
The Federal Highway Administration's Turner-Fairbank Highway Research Center J. Sterling Jones Hydraulics Research Laboratory is involved in an effort to describe abutment scour at bridge
sites in theoretical terms.
The
attached text file contains part of the scour data being analyzed to
develop the theoretical basis for predicting scour. When results
are available, they will be presented here.
Anyone
wishing to use this data should import it into their choice of software
for analysis.
