Highway Drainage Inlets

Conducting water efficiently from roadways during flood events means proper design of inlets to storm drainage systems. Research conducted at the Federal Highway Administration's (FHWA) Turner-Fairbank Highway Research Center J. Sterling Jones Hydraulics Research Laboratory has expanded the general understanding of how inlets work and led to better tools and guidelines for their design and construction.

Research results have been incorporated into HYDRAIN, FHWA's software package for highway drainage design.
