This process developed by the Florida Department of Transportation establishes a strong community-based program that strengthens local commitment to preserving and enhancing the scenic, recreational, natural, cultural, historic, and archeological attributes of the State's highways. Applicants are encouraged to solicit public involvement and local support that encourage and build partnerships between community members and government agencies. This process promotes the development of Corridor Management Plans by corridor advocacy groups. These groups help identify environmental values and incorporate them into protection strategies with local communities in partnership with the State Department of Transportation and other organizations.
