This research was directed by a partnership comprised of members of the scientific, regulatory, and local community. The work provided new information on eelgrass growth, survival, and mitigation options available to agencies that impact and protect the marine environment. The results of this research are being incorporated into a project design for the terminal reconstruction and future expansion plans for the ferry system at Clinton, Washington. This site will be monitored to evaluate the eelgrass and related biological community's response to the implemented mitigation measures. This partnership created an innovative solution that can be documented and shared with the scientific community and enjoyed by the general public. |
