PURPOSE. To transmit a special report entitled "Highway Construction Noise: Measurement, Prediction, and Mitigation"

BACKGROUND
-
Paragraph 13, FHPM 7-7-3 (Procedures for Abatement of Highway Traffic Noise and Construction Noise), places certain requirements on State highway agencies (SHA's) related to highway construction noise. This report will assist SHA's in meeting those requirements.

This report will be of interest to personnel engaged in construction noise assessments, construction and maintenance, and contracts and specifications.

This report is informational in nature and does not represent FHWA policy.

This report should be incorporated into the Highway Noise Notebook (see FHWA Notice N 6060.5 dated February 13, 1976). Sufficient copies are being provided to fulfill this distribution.

In addition to the distribution in 3b above, two additional copies are provided for each regional office and six additional copies are provided for each division.

Division offices should forward sufficient copies to the SHA to fill its needs.

Each regional and division office should advise HEV-21 of additional copies needed within 30 days of the date of this Bulletin.
