Figure 9. Correction for contaminating vehicles. An XY graph with Time on the X-axis and measured sound level on the Y-axis is shown. The upper point is the measured level with vehicle and contaminating vehicle(s) combined. The lower point is the level due to the contaminating vehicle. A parabolic curve starts at the origin, peaks at a point labeled the adjusted measured decibel level, and then falls midway between the two points before rising again to a second peak. The second peak is the measured level from the contaminating vehicle, and its slope is extrapolated below the adjusted measured decibel level. This is the level due to the contaminating vehicle.
