To Committee Members:
Thank you for your willingness to participate in this event. If successful, this may be the first of many opportunities for you and your counterparts from across the country to engage in what we hope will be truly beneficial discussions.
This session is currently scheduled for 1:30 - 3:00 pm on Thursday, October 19th in the Arkansas River Room at the RiverCenter Convention Center, which is also the site of the National Trails Symposium. For more information on the location of the meeting and other logistics, please see: www.americantrails.org/quad/ccadler.html. You are also welcome to sit in the Coalition for Recreational Trails Update from 3:30 to 5:00. We would also like to invite you to sit in on the afternoon sessions planned for the State Trail Administrators so that you may have the opportunity to see first hand what is being shared amongst the States and related trail organizations. Please see the agenda.
The format of the discussion will be for the most part informal. We will begin with introductions and then ask that a representative from each of the advisory committees take 5-10 minutes to share with the group how they view their role related to the Recreational Trails Program and the process in their respective States. We will then spend the remainder of the time having a facilitated discussion that will allow the State Trail Administrators and yourselves to explore new and existing ideas, practices, etc. We would like to hear your ideas about what you like/dislike relating to the program, how it works in your state, the formation of your committee, representation on the committee, if you work with similar organizations, recurring issues, etc. We also are interested in hearing feedback about improvements that you feel could benefit the program, both in your State and nationally.
Below are some of the areas that may be interesting to explore. If you have any other ideas, please feel free to share.
State Trail Advisory Committee members are invited to participate in all of the afternoon sessions on the 19th.
