Join Cheryl Surface, Nevada State Parks Trails Coordinator and Clay Grubb, Crew Leader for Tahoe Rim Trail Association as they share their experiences designing and laying out trails for a new Van Sickle Bi-State Park. Clay will review the process he has used to design and layout a connector trail from Van Sickle Bi-State Park to the Tahoe Rim Trail. Utilizing the wonders of PowerPoint, Clay will visually take you step by step on what is needed to design and layout a brand new trail. Participants will be invited to travel behind the Mont Bleu Resort to the new park entrance for incredible views of stunning Lake Tahoe from the South Shore. This is a chance for STAM participants to learn the ropes of what it takes to build the trails infrastructure of a new park and how partnerships are utilized in the actual layout, design and construction. State of Nevada Recreational Trails Program Grant funding will be utilized for new trail construction within the park.
September can bring a wide variety of weather conditions, so be prepared. Hiking shoes and appropriate clothing for the hike are required. Bring a small backpack to carry your water, snacks, and camera.
