Outdoor Recreation Resources Review Commission (ORRRC)
Recommendations

  • Policy to preserve, develop and make accessible... resources needed to assure the benefits of recreation

  • Each State develop a long-range plan

  • Federal program ... to provide grants to States ... to meet new demands for outdoor recreation...

Notes:

The detailed analysis of outdoor recreation conducted by Outdoor Recreation Resources Review Commission (ORRRC) lead to a number of recommendations which eventually gave way to the creation of the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF). In addition, the commission felt strongly about the importance of planning for the future and recommended that States develop comprehensive outdoor recreation plans.
