Real Estate Services Highlights

In January 2012, the Alternative Uses of Right of Way (ROW) report was released. The Transportation Research Board (TRB) published the report and shared the findings at a Sustainable Transportation Operations and Infrastructure Workshop at TRB's Annual Meeting. Researchers completed The Business Relocation Assistance Retrospective Study in 2012. The final report is available on FHWA's real estate website at http://www.fhwa.dot.gov/real_estate/publications/business_relocation_assistance/final_report/index.cfm.
The Visualization for ROW Acquisition report was completed in June 2012.The report was available for review at http://www.fhwa.dot.gov/real_estate/publications/visualization_for_row_acquisition/.
FHWA is working with the National Highway Institute (NHI) to develop the Acquisition and Negotiation for Right of Way (ROW) for Federal Projectsand Eminent Domain for Attorneys and Appraisers courses.

Program Overview

STEP is a research program authorized in the "Safe, Accountable, Flexible, Efficient Transportation Equity Act: A Legacy for Users". STEP funds can be awarded to state/local governments, metropolitan planning organizations, universities, federal agencies, and the private sector.
