Fully Precast Bridge Bents for Use in Seismic Regions

This webinar is the second and final webinar on Fully Precast Bridge Bents for Use in Seismic Regions. The concept for the bent system and the proof testing will be briefly reviewed. Since the first webinar in August 2011, additional testing and assessment of the results has been completed. This information will be presented, as it underpins the development of the final design specifications for the bent system. A demonstration bridge was built in Washington State using the system, and this project, which was also the basis for design examples, will be illustrated and the lessons learned summarized. Significant new material, consisting of design specifications, construction specifications and design examples will be covered. The examples cover the relevant seismic design elements for the precast bent system, including design of integral two-stage bent cap seismic design for prestressed concrete girder bridges, spread footing foundations, and drilled shaft foundations.
