You are invited to participate in an open house ...
The North Dakota Department of Transportation, the ND Chapter of the American Concrete Pavement Association. and the FHWA Highways for LIFE program invite you to participate in an open house on the bonded concrete overlay ("white topping") project on US Highway 2 located 1 mile west of Rugby, ND. The project will place a 7 inch concrete overlay on top of a milled asphalt pavement for 8.234 miles in the westbound two lanes of this four-lane divided highway. The open house will include a ½ day presentation session and a site visit to observe paving operations. Key highlights of this project include:
- Widened lanes with 7 in x 7 ft x 7 ft panel layout.
- Single saw cut transverse and longitudinal joints with no tie bars or dowels.
- Sustainability emphasis (high fl yash concrete mix, emphasis on rapid repair and replacement).
- Rapid paving operations.
This project meets the Highways for LIFE program goals of improved safety, quality and
performance.
