Subject: Indiana’s Streamlined EIS Procedures

During the last several months, the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) has provided the Region 5 office of the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) with the opportunity to participate in the development of FHWA’s coordinated process for the preparation of Environmental Impact Statements (EIS) in the state of Indiana, "Indiana’s Streamlined EIS Procedures". FTA supports this effort and will follow the procedures whenever the proposed action is a multimodal project that includes both highway and transit elements and such multimodal alternatives are likely to be evaluated in detail. We appreciate your inclusion of FTA’s input into the final document and acknowledge the ONE DOT spirit your staff has demonstrated throughout the process. If you have any further questions regarding this concurrence, please contact Andy Minyo at (312) 886-1624.

Sincerely,

Regional Administrator
