Modifying Cost and Deterioration Elicitations

The cost and deterioration models can be modified by the user as a result of any changes in the cost information or improvements to the prediction of element deterioration.

In this lesson, you will learn how to modify the cost and the deterioration elicitation in the Preservation module.

Modify a Cost Elicitation

To modify a cost elicitation:

  1. Navigate to the Preservation module.
  2. Click on the Metric radio button.
  3. From the Element drop-down list at the top of the screen, select 313-Fixed Bearing as the element that you want to modify.
  4. From the Environment drop-down list, select 3 Moderate as the environment that you want to modify.
  5. Click the Elicit Cost module tools button. The Expert Transition Probability Cost Elicitation window will appear.
  6. Click the Pencil icon so that it reads EDIT ON.
  7. Change the unit cost for Action 2 - Replace from 4,800 to 1,400.
  8. Click Save.
  9. Click File | Close to close the elicitation. The elicitation has been changed, but the changes will not be reflected in the policy until the cost models have been updated and the policy has been optimized.
Modify a Deterioration Elicitation

Now, modify a deterioration elicitation.

  1. While still in the Preservation module, click on the ElictDeterioration module tools button.
  2. The Expert Transition Probability Model Elicitation window for element 313 and environment 3-Moderate will appear.
  3. Click the Pencil icon in the lower right corner of the screen so that it reads EDIT ON.
  4. Change the transition probabilities for Action 2-Replace under State 3-Advanced Corrosion. Change Probability State 1 from 100 to 90; ProbabilityState2 from 0 to 9 and ProbabilityState 3 from 0 to 1.
  5. Click Save.
  6. Click File | Close to close the elicitation window. The elicitation has been changed, but the changes will not be reflected in the policy until the models have been updated and the policy has been optimized.

In this lesson, you have learned how to modify the cost and deterioration elicitation in the Preservation module.
