Using the Project Planning Module

The Project Planning module is used to build programs of bridge projects from the Inspector and Pontis-generated work candidates.

In this lesson, you will learn how to use the Project Planning desktop to select or find bridges and projects and display the project and bridge trees.

Viewing the Trees

The Project Planning module display, by default, will have three panels.

  1. In the Project Planning module, click the Bridges radio button. A list of bridges, an empty bridge tree panel and a details panel with two tabs, Description and Work Candidates, will be displayed.
  2. Click each of the 4 Desktop radio buttons to view different data arrangements.
    • Three Panels displays all data
    • Explorer displays the Tree View and Work Candidates List
    • Bridge List displays a list of bridges
    • Candidates lists Inspector and Pontis-generated bridge project candidates
  3. Click the Three panels radio button.
  4. Click the Layout button and select Default Structure Layout.
  5. Click the Select button above the Bridge List.
  6. Click Clear Selection, then click OK.
  7. Scroll through the list and click on the bridges: 1745 059, 1813 060 and 3365N002. The bridges and their projects will be added to the bridge tree.
  8. Click the Description tab next to the bridge tree.
  9. In the bridge tree, click on the Structure number, and then Project ID, and then work actions. A description of each item clicked will appear in the Description tab.
  10. While still in the Project Planning module, click the Projects radio button.
  11. Click the Select button from the upper panel.
  12. Click Clear Selection to reset.
  13. In the Program box, uncheck All.
  14. Select the Program TIP 2002-2005, then click OK. The Project List will be retrieved showing projects for the program TIP 2002-2005.
  15. Click the first three projects on the list: K-001, K-002, K-003. The projects and their work items will be added to the tree.
  16. Click the Description tab in the lower panel.
  17. Click on items on the tree. A description of each item clicked will appear in the Description tab.
Tip:
  • Right-click tree items and a comment box will provide description data. This is useful when using the work candidates tab.
