Creating a Project from Work Candidates

Pontis allows you to view multiple work candidates, select work candidates for a single bridge and create a single bridge project.

In this lesson, you will learn how to view work candidates and create a bridge project.

View Work Candidates and Create a Bridge Project

View selected candidates and create a bridge project.

  1. In the Project Planning module, select the Bridges radio button.
  2. In the Bridge list, click Select.
  3. In the Select Structures window, click Clear Selection, and then click OK.
  4. Scroll through the bridge list and select bridges: 1745 059, 1813 060 and 3365N002. The selected bridges will be added to the tree.
  5. Click Just Selected to limit the view to selected bridges only.
  6. In the Work Candidates tab, click Select.
  7. In the Select Work Candidates window, click Clear Selection, and then click OK.
  8. In the Work Candidates tab, click From List. Only work candidates from the selected bridges will appear in the list.
  9. Click the Desktop Candidates radio button.
  10. Click the Cost ($) heading until the list is sorted in descending order by cost.
  11. Right-click on the Candidate List and select Filter.
  12. In the Bridge ID row, double-click the Filter Value field.
  13. In the Filter Values window, select bridge ID 1745 059 from the list.
  14. Click Close. The values from the selected bridge will be transferred.
  15. Click Apply Filter. The Work Candidate list will be limited to the selected bridge.
  16. Click the Object column heading to sort the list by Element numbers in descending order.
  17. Scroll to element 321 and select the two work candidates.
  18. Click Create Projects.
  19. In the Create Projects window, click the Selected Work Candidates radio button.
  20. From the Program drop-down list, select Proposed, from Project Status, select 0 Proposed, from Scenario Treatment, select 0 Schedule and from Funding Source, select Spike Fund.
  21. Click the Earliest Work Item radio button.
  22. Click the ID radio button and enter Training Sample.
  23. Click Apply Specifications to review the proposed project.
  24. Click Create Projects.
  25. In the Confirmation window, click OK.
  26. Click Close. The system will return to the candidate list with a Red Icon indicating the work candidates that are now assigned as work items.
  27. Click the Projects radio button.
  28. Click the Three panels radio button.
  29. Select the Training Sample Project ID and click Open Project to view the new project.
