Creating a Project without Candidates

It is possible to create user-defined projects that do not evolve from work candidates. This is useful for entering existing programmed work.

In this lesson, you will create a User Project for a bridge that has no work candidates.

Create a Project without Candidates

Create a project without candidates.

  1. In the Project Planning module, click the Projects radio button.
  2. In the Projects list, click Refresh.
  3. Click New Project. A new project will be initialized.
  4. Click the Overview tab.
    • For Name, enter Training User Project.
    • For Program, select TIP 2002-2005.
    • For Program year, enter 2005.
    • For Action Type, select 11 Replace.
    • For Status, select 0 Proposed.
    • For Scenario Treatment, select 3 Compete.
  5. Click the Work Items tab.
  6. Click Add Work Item. A new work item will appear.
    • For Bridge ID, enter 1008 [space] 221.
    • For Type of Work, select Bridge.
    • For Year, enter 2005.
    • For Action, select 11-Replace.
    • For Cost ($), enter: 2,000,000, and then check Lock.
    • For Benefit ($), enter 2,500,000, and then check Lock.
    • For Priority, select 0 High.
    • For Status, select 2 Uncompleted.
  7. Click Close. The Training User Project will be added to the list.
Tip:
  • You can use the Find Bridge button to open and use the Find Structure Window.
