Performing a Bridge Analysis

The Pontis project module includes a bridge analysis feature to test the impact of proposed projects and create a project using the final selected work candidates.

In this lesson, you will learn to perform a bridge analysis for a selected bridge.

Perform a Bridge Analysis

Perform a bridge analysis.

  1. In the Project Planning module, click the Bridges radio button.
  2. Scroll down and select Bridge ID 1745 059.
  3. Click Analysis. The Bridge Analysis window will appear.
  4. Click the Scenario drop-down list and select Default scenario.
  5. Click Get Work Items. All work candidates for the Default scenario and any assigned work items will be retrieved for the selected bridge.
  6. Without selecting any of the work items, click Generate.
  7. In the confirmation window, click Yes to run a "Do Nothing" simulation, and then wait while the computation screen is displayed.
  8. In the Bridge Analysis window, click each of the tabs and review the results.
  9. In Tab 6, scroll down to element 301 Pourable Joint Seal and note the condition states at various years.
  10. Click the Specifications tab to run a second simulation.
  11. Scroll down and select 41-Minimum repair scheduled for Element 301 in 2005.
  12. Click Generate to simulate this action and wait while the computation screen is displayed.
  13. In Tab 11, scroll down to Element 301. Note that the condition state curves have changed compared to the "Do Nothing" scenario in Tab 6.
  14. Click the Specifications tab.
  15. Click Close to return to the Project Planning module.
