U.S. Transportation Secretary Foxx Announces $282M Loan for US 183 Project in Texas

U.S. Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx today announced a Transportation Infrastructure Finance and Innovation Act (TIFIA) loan for $282 million to finance the construction of additional lanes on an eight-mile stretch of US 183 in Austin, Texas, to help relieve congestion The Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority will receive the $282 million loan which will go toward the estimated $856 million total cost of the project, and help eliminate stop-and-go traffic and give drivers an alternative to the congested IH-35 - the parallel route in the area - into downtown Austin. The project will add new tolled and non-tolled lanes in each direction and pathways for bicyclists and pedestrians.
