The Interstate 10 Twin Span Bridge across Lake Pontchartrain suffered serious damage
from Hurricane Katrina. In the aftermath of the disaster the Louisiana Department of
Transportation and Development responded quickly to make temporary repairs to the bridge
and restore this vital transportation link to New Orleans.

Now, through the dedicated efforts of its citizens and with the cooperation of state and
federal governments, construction of a new Highrise Twin Span Bridge is underway. The
approximately $800 million project is a testament of the strength, hope and resiliency of
a grand state and strong nation.
