Subject: DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION ORGANIZATION MANUAL
FEDERAL HIGHWAY ADMINISTRATION - CHANGE

  1. PURPOSE. To issue revised pages to the Federal Highway Administration's (FHWA) section of the Department of Transportation Organization Manual.

  2. EXPLANATION OF CHANGES. The purpose of this change is to document the following substantive organizational changes:

    1. The Office of Corporate Research and Technology has been established as a staff office within the immediate office of the Associate Administrator for Research, Development, and Technology (RD&T). This new office will function as the focal point for championing and facilitating corporate research and technology (R&T) initiatives and activities, and will support the FHWA R&T Leadership Team's efforts in implementing the Corporate Master Plan for Research and Deployment of Technology and Innovation (CMP).

    2. Mission and function statements are added for the Office of Resource Management, a previously established office within the Office of Research, Development, and Technology. This office is responsible for providing administrative advice and support to other RD&T offices.

    3. The Table of Contents and the Office of Research, Development, and Technology's mission and functions statements are revised accordingly. In addition, minor technical and grammatical revisions have been made to several sections. A vertical change line in the manual's margin indicates a section has been added, revised or changed.
