Subject: DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION ORGANIZATION MANUAL
FEDERAL HIGHWAY ADMINISTRATION - CHANGE

  1. PURPOSE. To issue revised pages to the Federal Highway Administration's (FHWA) section of the Department of Transportation Organization Manual.

  2. EXPLANATION OF CHANGES. The purpose of this change is to consolidate the Office of Program Development and Evaluation, the Office of Research and Technology Services, and the Office of Corporate Research and Technology (a staff office within the immediate Office of the Associate Administrator) into a single Office to be titled, Office of Corporate Research, Technology, and Innovation Management within the FHWA's Office of Research, Development, and Technology (RD&T). The new organizational structure will integrate and streamline support for the Research and Technology Leadership Team's efforts to ensure a corporate approach to the FHWA Research and Technology (R&T) Program. It will be better aligned to develop and facilitate strategies that help the Agency's R&T Program perform corporately to identify and address current and future needs of the transportation system.

The Office of RD&T's mission and functions statements are revised accordingly. In addition, minor technical and grammatical revisions have been made to several sections. A vertical change line in the manual's margin indicates a section has been added, revised, or changed.
