NATIONWIDE PERSONAL TRANSPORTATION SURVEYS (NPTS)

The Nationwide Personal Transportation Survey (NPTS) is another product of the Office of Highway Policy Information. This survey serves as the Department's source of data on the amount and nature of personal travel by all modes of transport, and the relationship between demographic change and travel. The survey allows the analyst to view travel from the perspective of the individual and the household unit. The NPTS is sponsored by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), the Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS), the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the Federal Transit Administration (FTA).

A few of the many transportation issues we face include:

To explore these and other issues in personal travel, contact an NPTS Team member at 202-366-0160, or visit the NPTS web site at: www.fhwa.dot.gov/ohim/nptspage.htm
