Date Submitted: 10/8/1998

Subject/IMS Table: Recommendations for future friction data collection.
Resolved: Yes
Last Updated: 12/6/1999

LTPP Analysis/Operations Situation: This feedback report is based on the recently completed study on LTPP friction data. A number of recommendations were made: develop an improved stand-alone guideline for friction data collection; improve the data reporting form to allow reporting of tire type and the wheel path tested; request participating agencies to collect friction data at least every two years; complete the data tables related to surface layer material properties, construction techniques, and surface layer mixture properties; and initiate collection of macrotexture data.

Resolution of Problem/Situation: This feedback report was not assigned for resolution since friction has been dropped as a required data element in the LTPP program.
