The purpose of this communication is to announce awards from the Delta Region Transportation Development Program for fiscal year 2006 (FY2006) authorized by Section 1308 of SAFETEA-LU. Projects and awards to the Delta states are listed in the table below. Note, we are not allocating these awards until sometime this fiscal year when the full FY 2007 Appropriations Act is passed. Currently the federal government is operating under a continuing resolution and it is uncertain when the full FY 2007 appropriations will occur.
Section 1308 authorizes $10 million from FY 2006 to FY 2009 to the eight states within the geographic boundary of the Delta Regional Authority. The funds are for planning, development, and construction and are available until expended (will never lapse). Notwithstanding this, however, the funds are subject to obligation authority provisions and allocated but unobligated funds will have to be returned at the end of each fiscal year. After obligation limitation, the total amount available for allocation in FY 2006 is $8.6 million.
