The video recording "Planning for Progress" provides an effective and brief (12 minutes) overview of intermodal freight transportation and addresses why it is important for decision-makers, public transportation planners and other transportation professionals to integrate freight in their local, State, and multi-jurisdictional planning and investment decisions. The video explains, non-technically, supply chain logistics, the role and attributes of the different modes and addresses questions such as - How are goods delivered from a manufacturer's facility to a retailer's shelf? What are the public and private challenges and solutions of providing "next day" service in a just-in-time business model?
