2004 FHWA and FTA Transportation Planning Excellence Awards, co-sponsored by the American Planning Association.

2004 Transportation Planning Excellence Awards

In this first year of the Program, over 220 nominations covering 9 of the 10 award categories were received. [1] Following a rigorous evaluation process that included extensive follow-up and stakeholder interviews, awards were presented to 11 projects. Five additional projects were recognized with Honorable Mentions.

The 2004 Transportation Planning Excellence Awards (TPEA) and Honorable Mentions were presented at a ceremony held on July 25 during the Joint Summer Meeting of the Transportation Research Board Committees in Park City, Utah. The 2004 TPEA "Planning It Safe" Safety Conscious Planning Awards were presented in a separate ceremony at the 38th Annual Conference of the National Association of Regional Councils in Chicago on June 28.
