Bridges by Type of Structural Material and Functional Class
Exhibit 11-18 has four pie charts showing bridges by type of superstructure material and functional class. The first, for interstates, shows that 36.42 percent is concrete, 39.45 is steel, 24.02 is pre-stressed concrete, 0.01 is timber, and 0.10 is other. The second, for other arterial bridges, shows that 48.07 percent is concrete, 28.28 is steel, 22.30 is pre-stressed concrete, 0.87 is timber, and 0.47 is other. The third, for collectors, shows that 49.69 percent is concrete, 27.65 is steel, 18.15 is pre-stressed concrete, 3.96 is timber, and 0.54 is other. And the fourth chart, for local bridges, shows that 38.74 percent is steel, 30.94 is concrete, 18.49 is pre-stressed concrete, 11.07 is timber, and 0.77 is other.
