What We Do

The Office of Legislative and Governmental Affairsprovides support and assistance to the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), the Department of Transportation, and the U.S. Congress on legislative and policy development. Policy expertise is used in activities such as managing the FHWA reauthorizing legislation, conducting analyses in support of the Federal-aid Highway Program budget, and conducting highway investment studies which culminate in the publication of the biennial conditions and performance report to Congress. The Office serves as the primary Congressional contact and coordination point for FHWA activities.

Specific programs include Program Analysis, Strategic Initiatives, Highway Needs and Investment Analysis, and Legislative Analysis
