Description

13.5 mile limited access four-lane route from the City of Foley to Orange Beach , Gulf Shores and Perdido Key in Alabama . The project was built in two sections.

The six-mile privately finance section includes a 2,000 foot privately owned bridge over the Intracoastal Waterway . Highpoint of bridge is 73’ above mean high tide with a 300’ center span over Intracoastal Waterway. Construction was completed in June 2002

The 7.5 mile public section connects the private road and bridge to Highway 59 south of Summerdale and north of Foley. It was built at a cost of $7.2 million.

A $2.00 toll is charged on the Foley Beach Express Bridge . Driving times on the Foley Beach Express are 15 to 30 minutes less than on Highway 59.

The bridge was built using a design-build procurement awarded to McInnis Corporation of Mongomery , Alabama . The private highway contractor was a joint venture of J.S. Walton Construction and Mobile Asphalt, Co, both of Mobile, Alabama
