The following events provide opportunities to learn more about products and technologies for accelerating infrastructure innovations.

Fourth International Conference on Bridge Maintenance, Safety, and Management

July 13-17, 2008, Seoul, Korea

The conference will address such topics as bridge management systems, design and analysis, reliability and risk management, fatigue analysis, measurement and monitoring, and damage assessment. The event is being organized by the International Association for Bridge Maintenance and Safety and hosted by the Korea Bridge Design and Engineering Research Center at Seoul National University.

45th Annual Petersen Asphalt Research Conference

July 14-16, 2008, Laramie, WY

The conference will present current research aimed at understanding and improving asphalt pavement performance, with topics ranging from fundamental compositional research to applied field engineering. Participants will also have the opportunity to participate in an open-mike discussion session. The conference is organized by the Western Research Institute (WRI).

2008 Pavement Performance Prediction Symposium

July 16-18, 2008, Laramie, WY

Hosted by WRI, in cooperation with FHWA, the symposium will focus on recycled and warm-mix asphalt pavements.

International Symposium on Asphalt Pavements and the Environment

August 18-20, 2008, Zurich, Switzerland

Sponsored by the International Society of Asphalt Pavements, the symposium will feature discussion on state-of-the-art developments and future trends in asphalt pavement technology and environmental stewardship. EMPA, the Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Testing and Research, is organizing the event.

2008 International Orthotropic Bridge Conference

August 25-29, 2008, Sacramento, CA

Launching orthotropic bridges and conducting welding inspections of the bridges will be among the featured topics at the conference. FHWA will also preview its forthcoming FHWA Orthotropic Bridge Manual. The conference is hosted by the Sacramento chapter of the American Society of Civil Engineers.

2008 National Hydraulic Engineering Conference (NHEC)

August 26-29, 2008, Portland, ME

Featuring the theme of "Partnering for Progress in a Changing Environment," the NHEC is designed to equip participants with additional knowledge and tools to meet current and future challenges in hydraulic engineering. Current research studies, state-of-the-art technologies, and design approaches will all be highlighted. The conference is a result of a partnership among FHWA, the Maine Department of Transportation, American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO), and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Cold Regions Research and Engineering Laboratory.

International Construction Management Conference

September 8-11, 2008, Orlando, FL

The conference will look at such topics as alternative procurement and contracting systems, construction cost escalation, public-private partnerships, and risk management. The conference is sponsored by the Construction Management Expert Technical Group, which includes representatives from American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO), FHWA, industry, and academia.

FHWA 2008 Regional Asset Management Conference

September 10-11, 2008, Albuquerque, NM

The fourth conference in this series of free regional conferences is designed to bring the latest transportation asset management technologies, research, and best practices to State, Federal, and local practitioners and others across the country. A fifth conference is currently being planned, with the date and location to be announced.

Second National Maintenance Quality Assurance (MQA) Peer Exchange

September 23-24, 2008, Durham, NC

Participants will discuss MQA analysis procedures and reporting to support highway decisionmaking and will identify progress made since the first Peer Exchange held in 2004. Sponsored by FHWA's Office of Asset Management, the Peer Exchange is being held in conjunction with the National Workshop on Highway Asset Inventory and Data Collection.

National Workshop on Highway Asset Inventory and Data Collection

The workshop will highlight the latest in technology for managing highway assets. Four focus areas will be featured: Pavements, Bridges, Roadside Appurtenances, and Geotechnical and Drainage. The workshop is cosponsored by the Transportation Research Board, FHWA, and AASHTO.
