Innovative Pavement Maintenance Showcase Workshop

March 19, 1996, Springfield, Illinois

March 21, 1996, Portland, Oregon

This 1-day workshop will cover such topics as pothole repair and crack sealing for asphalt concrete pavements and spall repair and crack resealing for portland cement concrete pavements. New technologies, such as the Iowa vacuum joint seal tester, and the benefits of implementing preventive maintenance strategies will also be discussed.

Control of Snow and Ice Showcase Workshop

March 19-20, 1996, Portland, Oregon

The workshop will provide a thorough evaluation of SHRP-developed products for snow and ice control, such as snowplows, snow fences, road weather information systems, anti-icing strategies, and methods for evaluating deicing chemicals.

Superpave: The Asphalt Mix Design for the 21st Century

March 21 and 22, 1996, Las Vegas, Nevada

These sessions for asphalt paving contractors and asphalt materials and pavement engineers are part of Conexpo-Con/Agg '96. Participants will learn about the new Superpave mix design procedure and hear details of actual field experiences.

High-Performance Concrete for Bridges Showcase Workshop

March 25-27, 1996, Houston, Texas

This showcase workshop covers the advantages and disadvantages of high-performance concrete, as well as mix proportioning, structural design considerations, and evaluation of bridge component performance. This is the pilot workshop and space is limited; therefore, attendance is by invitation only.

Improving Pavements with LTPP: Products for Today and Tomorrow

March 26-28, 1996, Irvine, California

As the 20-year long-term pavement performance (LTPP) program reaches its midpoint, this conference will highlight the program's accomplishments and products to date. Participants will also look ahead at goals for the second half of the LTPP studies.

Methodology for Removal, Repair, Rehabilitation, and Protection of Concrete Structures and Physical Assessment of Reinforced Concrete Structures Showcase Workshops

This week-long session, which combines two separate showcase workshops, will cover methods for evaluating, removing, protecting, and rehabilitating reinforced concrete bridge structures.

Alkali-Silica Reactivity (ASR) Showcase Workshop

April 16-18, 1996, Montreal, Quebec

This showcase workshop is designed to give participants hands-on training in identifying and mitigating the effects of ASR-induced deterioration in portland cement concrete. The workshop includes lectures, demonstrations, and a field trip and covers such topics as how to test for ASR in the field and how to avoid ASR in new construction.
