RoadSavers Publications Now Available in Print and on the Web
The reports, brochures, and other publications detailing the results of the
project to assess the costs versus benefits of the Strategic Highway Research
Program (SHRP) are now available both online and in print. The information
in those publications substantiates the preliminary findings reported earlier
this year (see March 1997 Focus), which indicated that SHRP products
save money, time, and lives. In recognition of those savings, the SHRP
products have been dubbed "RoadSavers."
The RoadSavers Web site (www.ota.fhwa.dot.gov/roadsvr)
includes more than 100 case studies, a series of in-depth technical reports,
a family of brochures, and a summary report. The case studies can be viewed
either by State or by product. Products are listed within six general categories:
Asphalt
- Concrete and Structures
- Long-Term Pavement Performance
- Pavement Preservation
- Snow and Ice Control
- Work Zone Safety
The site also includes information on ordering the
printed materials and a videotape summarizing the project's findings.
The summary project report, titled From Research
to Reality: Assessing the Results of the Strategic Highway Research Program,
will be mailed to all Focus subscribers in January 1998.
