| Project Description: | The mapping technology project aims to analyze and determine the best current and anticipated geospatial technologies and mapping approaches to support Connected Vehicle networked applications. Key connected vehicle safety, mobility, and environment applications require widely available, highly accurate, and reliable mapping data to be effective for the Connected Vehicle network. For example, an in-vehicle red-light warning application requires the vehicle to know a detailed map layout of each intersection. Otherwise, the in-vehicle application could assume it is in a through lane rather than a turning lane and receive a false warning message when it has a protected green arrow. |
