Organization:Federal Highway Administration - Turner-Fairbank Highway Research Center (TFHRC)
Office: Office of Infrastructure Research and Development
Team: Bridge and Foundation Engineering Team
Roadmap/Focus area(s): Infrastructure Research and Technology Strategic Plan and Roadmap
Project Description: This project will develop a state-of-the-art report relevant to the use of Ultra-High Performance Concrete (UHPC) in the U.S. highway transportation sector.
Laboratories: Structures Laboratory
Concrete Laboratory
Start Date: August 1, 2011
End Date: May 31, 2013
Funding Amount:$60,504.00
FHWA Program Name: Innovative Bridge Research and Deployment
Goals: The objective of this project is to document state-of-the-art (with regard to the research, development, and deployment) Ultra-High Performance Concrete (UHPC) components within the U.S. highway transportation infrastructure. The project will look at what has been done previously and what needs to be done in order to achieve appropriate application of UHPC in this segment of the U.S. infrastructure. Given that (1) the broad range of topics currently under consideration for the use of UHPC, (2) the history of cross-pollination between separate but related application areas as new cementitious composites are developed, and (3) the wide range of topics applicable to bridge engineering, it is expected that the deliverables from this project will document far more than the work solely completed within the U.S. highway sector.
Project Type: Offsite
