| Project Description: | Characterize all of the research fine and coarse aggregates used in pavement research at Turner-Fairbank Highway Research Center (TFHRC) for concrete, asphalt, and granular base layers. Create an accessible database for use by all pavement researchers at TFHRC. |
| Laboratories: |
Aggregate and Petrographic Laboratory |
| Start Date: | October 1, 2011 |
| End Date: | September 30, 2013 |
| Funding Amount: | $15,900,000.00 |
| FHWA Program Name: | Innovative Pavement Research and Deployment |
| Goals: |
The objective is to characterize all of the research fine and coarse aggregates used in pavement research at Turner-Fairbank Highway Research Center (TFHRC) for concrete, asphalt, and granular base layers. Contractor and Federal personnel calibrated the Aggregate Imaging System (AIMS) II equipment and run shape, angularity, and texture scans on all the available research fine and coarse aggregates at TFHRC.
Develop an accessible database for use by all pavement researchers at TFHRC.
