Arch Johnston

Arch Johnston is currently professor of geophysics at The University of Memphis and Director of its Center for Earthquake Research and Information (CERI). He received a BS in physics from Rhodes College and PhD in geophysics from University of Colorado, Boulder. His research has focused on the earthquakes and earthquake hazards of mid-plate earthquakes. He is currently a Regional Director and the Hazards Program Coordinator of the Mid-America Earthquake Center. He is a past President of the Seismological Society of America, past editor of Seismological Research Letters, past member of the National Earthquake Prediction Evaluation Council, and current member of the National Academy of Sciences' Committee on the Science of Earthquakes. He has testified six times to congressional committees or subcommittees concerning the seismic hazards of Mid-America.
