David G. Snider, P.E., is the Assistant Chief Engineer-Operations for the Missouri Department of Transportation, a position he assumed December 1, 1994.

Snider's job responsibilities include providing direction and guidance to the four operations divisions of the department. These include the divisions of maintenance, traffic, construction, and materials.

Snider first joined the department in June 1959 after graduating from the University of Missouri-Columbia with a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering. He left the department in June 1966 to take the position of Assistant Director of Traffic and Transportation in Des Moines, Iowa. In 1972, he took the position of Director of Public Works for the City of Springfield, Missouri, and held that position until 1990. In 1990, he became Executive Vice President of John Morris Associated Companies until coming to the Highway and Transportation Department in July, 1991, filling the position of Division Engineer of Maintenance and Traffic. On September 1, 1992, he became the Division Engineer of Planning.

Snider served in the U.S. Army for six months and the Missouri National Guard for six years.

Snider belongs to numerous professional organizations such as the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials, Missouri Society of Professional Engineers, Institute of Transportation Engineers, American Public Works Association and Transportation Research Board. He also is a member of the Jefferson City Kiwanis Club and the past president of the Downtown Kiwanis Club of Springfield, Missouri.

Snider was born in Kansas City, Missouri, and attended public schools in Moberly and Kansas City and graduated from high school in Johnson County, Kansas. He and his wife, Phyllis, have three children who are all married and five grandchildren. He lives in Jefferson City, Missouri.
