Issam E. Harik

Issam E. Harik joined the University of Kentucky in 1982. He is currently a Professor of Civil Engineering, and Head of the Structures Section at the Kentucky Transportation Center. He has been involved in numerous research projects, and most recently, the research deals with fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) composites in infrastructure, seismic analysis and retrofit of bridges, vessel impact on bridges, and field evaluation of bridges. He currently serves as a member of eleven societies, and holds offices in four of them. He has authored and co-authored over 130 technical publications. He has directed the research of 14 visiting professors, 11 Ph.D. students, and 35 MS students. He is very active with student organizations and outreach programs dealing with science and engineering in middle schools. He has received numerous teaching awards.
