Dr. Manouchehr Karshenas received his MS and PhD degrees in structural engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1974 and 1979, respectively. He taught as assistant professor of Civil Engineering at the University of California Davis, before joining the Chicago office of the consulting firm of Parsons, Brinckerhoff, Quade, and Douglas, Inc. in 1985. He has been with the Illinois Department of Transportation, Bureau of Bridges and Structures since 1990, where he is currently a special design and evaluation engineer.
Dr. Karshenas is a registered Professional Engineer and Structural Engineer in the State of Illinois, a member of the Structural Engineering Board in Illinois, and a member of the Structural Engineering Examination Committee at the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying, NCEES. He has published over 20 technical articles on transportation structures.
