Mr. Cooling is a Principal with URS Greiner Woodward-Clyde's St. Louis, Missouri office where he manages the geotechnical engineering group. He was project manager for many of the major seismic retrofit projects for URS Greiner Woodward-Clyde in the Midwest, including two of the projects listed in this paper. He is a member of the Transportation Research Board Committees A2KO2 (Transportation Earthworks) and A2KO3 (Foundations for Bridges and Structures). Mr. Cooling is a registered engineer in five states, including a geotechnical engineer in the state of California. He obtained his bachelor's degree at the University of Illinois and a masters' degree at the University of California at Berkeley, both in civil engineering.
