Jeffrey J.F. Ger

Dr. Ger is the Structural Development & Support Engineer in the Bridge Division of the Missouri Department of Transportation. He is responsible for coordinating, performing, and assisting in the research, development, and maintenance of Bridge Division Manuals, Bridge Standard Details Library Manual, and structurally related items in Missouri Standard Plans Books, etc. He received his Ph.D. in civil engineering from the University of Missouri-Rolla and was a Research Assistant Professor at the University of Missouri-Rolla. His research experience has been in the field of earthquake engineering and structural dynamics in high-rise buildings and highway bridges. He has published more than twenty technical papers in earthquake engineering. Other working experience includes 1) designing prestressed I-girder bridges and plate-girder bridges; 2) reviewing seismic isolation systems for seismic retrofit of highway bridges; 3) assessing instability of a 22-story steel building, the Pino Suarez Tower in Mexico, subjected to a 1985 Mexico earthquake; 4) investigating hysteretic behavior of low-rise reinforced concrete shear walls, steel box columns, and open-web-joist girders, etc. Dr. Ger is a professional engineer in Missouri and a professional home inspector. He is also a member of ASCE, Chi Epsilon, and Sigma Xi.
